Cold uterus and unexplained infertility

Cold uterus and unexplained infertility

A cold womb is a term often used within Surinamese and Moroccan communities and is even better known within Chinese medicine.

Usually associated with unexplained infertility.

What does it mean and how can you recognize it?

In Chinese medicine, body temperature plays a very important role, especially when it comes to fertility.

In simple words, a cold uterus simply does not have the desired temperature to develop an embryo.

The lack of warmth and cold in the uterus prevents follicles from maturing. Even if the follicle does mature, there's a good chance your body won't ovulate properly, preventing conception. In many cases, a cold uterus can also cause a miscarriage.

That's why Chinese medicine places so much importance on the temperature of the uterus when a woman is trying to conceive. In various cultures, covering the abdomen is seen as protecting fertility.

This is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine of Yin-Yang

Yang is the warming energy that stimulates blood circulation.

The second half of the menstrual cycle, also known as the luteal phase, is considered the yang phase.

In this phase, progesterone is produced, which raises body temperature, creating the best conditions for fertilized embryos to implant. Therefore, if body temperature doesn't rise, the uterus will remain cold.

Symptoms of a cold uterus include:

    • Low libido
    • Cold hands, feet and buttocks
    • Painful periods
    • Dark blood clot during menstruation
    • Often feeling cold
    • Lower back pain

Tips:

    • V-Steaming with the Rustic Rose
    • Don't walk barefoot on a cold floor
    • Wear warm socks during menstruation
    • Wear extra warm clothing
    • Avoid drinking cold juices/drinks or cold salads during menstruation
    • Drink warm tea
    • Use a jug

A nice addition would be acupuncture.

Lots of love,

*Please note: if you choose to use steam to enhance your fertility, you should steam for three consecutive days immediately after your period. Every evening for 20-30 minutes before bed, provided your cycle is 28 days or longer. It's important not to use steam for the rest of the month. Steaming during ovulation destroys sperm, and steaming after ovulation can disrupt any fertilization process. If you're trying to conceive for 27 days or less, choose the Optimistic Orange and contact us.
